Inshallah – إن شاء الله – God willing.
No, this post is neither on the islamophobic reactions which too many Europeans are living out nowadays nor it is on a personal religious awakening overnight. It’s much easier than that and far more personal.
This morning at 10:45 a.m. Eurowings flight number 4U0396 with destination Dublin took off at Cologne Bonn Airport. Unfortunately, although I had a ticket I was not on board the aircraft. And no, I did not stuck in a traffic jam and therefore missed my flight. The reason I’m still sitting here at my desk, writing these lines and not enjoying a coffee in a nice café in Dublin is more complicated and serious. Much to my regret a slipped disc in my neck put all my plans on ice until further notice. I don’t know exactly how things will continue. Whatever the case, as things presently stand I have to postpone my project – or at least the travel part of it – to spring 2017. 🙁
This takes me back to the title of this post. Even though I am not religious at all I’ve always hold some love for the arabic word inshallah. Not in the meaning of being powerless on what the future will bring but more as a personal reminder that our lives are not as predictable as we sometimes think. Therefore, we should use every day as good as possible and enjoy life.
“Everything is going to be fine in the end.
If it’s not fine it’s not the end.”– Oscar Wilde –

[…] Unfortunately, I have to postpone the journey until spring 2017 for health reasons. […]
Der Sommer wird ein schöner werden, trotzdem!
Danke für den “Oscar”!
You’re welcome 😉
Neu hier,
Volker
Hi Volker,
